Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, forward of Paris Saint-Germain and the Georgia national football team, has been named the best player of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League season by UEFA.
UEFA’s technical observers group reviewed the season and selected the Georgian star as the competition’s outstanding player – a recognition that is thoroughly deserved.
“The exciting Georgian winger played a huge part in Paris winning their second consecutive title, scoring ten times and providing six assists throughout the completion as he dazzled on the left flank.
He was pivotal in the final win against Arsenal too, being brought down by Cristhian Mosquera for a penalty which Ousmane Dembele converted to haul Luis Enrique’s side level at 1-1.
Arguably Kvaratskhelia’s finest performance came in the unforgettable 5-4 semifinal first-leg win over Bayern, as he curled in a beauty to draw his side level at 1-1 before adding a fierce drive in the second period to complete a fine double”, - UEFA wrote on its official website.
UEFA previously named Ousmane Dembele (2024/25), Vinicius Junior (2023/24), Rodri (2022/23) and Karim Benzema (2021/22) as the UEFA Champions League Player of the Season.
Real Madrid’s TurkiSh midfielder Arda Guler was named the Young Player of the Season. Kvaratskhelia, of course, was also included in the Team of the Season.
It is worth noting that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia enjoyed a magnificent Champions League campaign – the finest of his career. In 16 appearances, he scored 10 goals and provided six assists. He earned a goal contribution (either a goal or an assist) in seven consecutive playoff matches, setting a new competition record. He also earned the crucial penalty in the final. In all competitions of the 2025/26 season, Kvaratskhelia recorded 19 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain. In his second season for PSG, he won the French League title, the French Super Cup, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
