Aim of Tatishvili Is to Defend 100 Points

Georgian tennis player Anna Tatishvili will play against Ayumi Morita of Japan in the first round of Australian Open. Anna must win this match because she has to defend ranking points.

Tatishvili earned these points last year. In the first round she won over Ashleigh Barty of Australia 6:2, 7:6 (7:4). Then, the Georgian lost to Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 1:6, 6:7 (4:7).

The 22-year-old Tatishvili is in the 52nd place with 1140 points on WTA ranking. Morita is in the 81st place with 774 points. On January 14 the Georgian and the Japanese tennis players will play against each other and winner will gain 100 points.

In the second round winner will play against winner between Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan and Annika Beck of Germany. In case of overcoming this round, winner will gain 160 points. Perhaps, world No.3 Serena Williams will go through to the third round.
