For the First Time after the Olympics

 

Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team departed for Astana where it will participate in “President Cup” on November 17-18. The team of Begi Darchia will wrestle with optimal staff. The head coach took five from 6 sportsmen who wrestled at London Olympic Games. Revaz Lashkhi (60kg), Zurab Datunashvili, Manuchar Tskhadaia (both 74kg), Vladimer Gegeshidze (84kg) and Soso Jabidze (96kg) have not wrestled anywhere after the Olympics. Heavyweight Guram Perselidze was in the team too but because of 6-month disqualification he was substituted with Sergo Gogisvanidze. Besides the abovementioned sportsmen, Ucha Shavadze (66kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia in Astana.

Georgian referee will judge at the Kazakhstani tournament – Zaza Jibladze left for Astana with the Georgian delegation.

Another interesting moment – Olympic bronze medal winner Manuchar Tskhadaia will wrestle in 74kg.

On the first day of the tournament champions and prize winners will be found out in 55, 66, 84 and 120kg. On the second day champions will be found out in 60, 74 and 96kg.

President Cup will be the last international tournament of the year for Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team. Georgian Championship will finish domestic season in one month.
