The new authority of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs is known. Today, Levan Kipiani Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, has represented three deputies to the journalists at the press-conference hall and talked about the fourth one in details.
A veteran chess-player, international grand master, European champion (2003) Zurab Azmaiparashvilis is Kipiania’s first deputy. A veteran volley-ball player, candidate of technical science, reader (in university) and lawyer Rati Bregvadze is the second deputy. He is not in Great Britain for being operated on, he comes back in Tbilisi in November and starts working.
“While making decision, I was focused on people who are good at management and are professionals. Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs must become a role model for everyone”- stated Levan Kipiani while naming the deputies. Then he answered the questions.
- Before official appointment as Minister of Sport and Youth Affair, you stated in one of the interviews that Mikheil Kavelashvili a former player of Georgian football federation would be next to you in any case. He was expected to be appointed as one of your candidates, but it did not happen so..
- If Kavelashvili is not among deputies it does not mean that he won’t be next to me. He has very interesting plans and we will realize the programs together.
- It is the end of the year and the time of planning budget is coming. Did you write priorities?
- We work in a very fast temp. I am trying, to know everything in details, but unfortunately at the beginning we will have to follow the old budget. I will do my best to do everything in the best professional way. Since today we start individual meetings with federations, for knowing the maximal information about each kind of sport.
- It is known that you are to restore Sport Academy. Can you please tell us farther information about it?
- Sport Academy is one of the most actual topics. I have already talked about this topic at the meeting of cabinet and the main thing is that my idea is completely supported. Thanks God that the building of Sport Academy is now sold, it is still on balance of Ministry of Economics. So, there is no problem in realizing the idea. Before that I will meet Aleksandre Margvelashvili minister of Education. A joint group will be made, which will discuss how it will be better to solve the problems of Sport Academy.
- Georgian wrestler Guram Perseladze is disqualified for 6-month by International federation and wrestling federation is fined. What must be done by the Ministry for solving this problem?
- We will learn this topic in details later. To my mind, federation should work more carefully for preventing such misunderstanding.
- Georgian Weightlifting federation might leave without a very experienced coach, Vano Grikurov. Have you got any information about this?
-Of course, I have. Before leaving for Poland, I talked to Grikurov and he told how big plans he has for the next Olympic Games. It is pity, that there are interior problems in federation, but it is common while working and I hope that everything will be solved. The main is not to make conflict due to different ideas. I will be very careful about this topic.
- Do you have any financial complains with the former authority of the ministry?
- It is early to talk about it. An ndependent audit is learning the details and it will make a report soon. After this we will know we have to have complains or not.
- What will be the main priority of the ministry?
Tamaz Tevzadze:
- Children’s sport is the main priority. We have to start building Georgian sport from a ground-work, because of making success. Unfortunately, there is a terrible condition in children’s sport. As far as you know, I have a lot of interesting project and I will continue working about their realization in the future in any case.
- It is the 50th anniversary after achieving the biggest success in basketball. A big victory gained by “Dinamo” had not be left without attention, but it was celebrated unassumingly. Do not you think such dates must be celebrate in relevant way?
Levan Kipiani:
- On the contrary. We have to appraise our heroes in a maximum way and we should not forget historical victories. My desire is to take “Real” Madrid in Tbilisi for celebrating this victory but it is not very easy.
- Football club named after Mikheil Meskhi “Avaza” was renamed “Vissol-Torpedo”. How fair is such decision?
- I have just talked to the authority of “Vissol” and we have talked about it too. They are willing the club to get back the old name.
