27-year-old Georgian first liner Mamuka Ghongadze had the best season in his career. 'Kanu' (nickname of Ghongadze) became champion of Latvia in 'Daugava'. Georgian striker played the decisive role in this success.

Mamuka became the best bombardier with 18 goals in 33 matches. Football federation of Latvia recognised him as the best bombardier. Latvian football specialists, including the main coach of the team Alexandr Strakovs also named him as the best striker. Now it is time to find out the best football player in Latvia. In the nearest future he will be found out. It is not excluded, Mamuka Ghongadze to be named in this nomination and arrive in Moscow as the best player of Latvia on January 13.
- I do not want to say anything in advance. But on January 13 I have to be in Moscow. There is a big chance of leaving 'Daugava'- stated Mamuka Ghongadze to ' World Sport', the authority of my club and the authority of 'Alania' have agreed about my transfer. I had telephone calls with Vladimer Gutsaev general director of 'Alania' and Valeri Gazaev the main coach of the club.
