The international tournament is going on in the city of India, Pune (prize money 125 000 USD). Georgian tennis players Sopho Shapatava and Oksana Kalashnikova are participating in this following tournament. Kalashnikova is continuing playing and as for Shapatava he has already finished competition either in single or in double tournaments.
We have already reported about the single tournament, as for the double tournament Kalashnikova who is No.2 seed and Russian Nina Bratchkova beat Indians (Bosale-Tombare) – 6:3, 6:3. In the quarter final Georgian-Russian duet played against Ukrainian couple (Savchuk-Svitolina) and gained victory 7:5, 6:2.
Kalashnikova and Bratchikova as a result of going through the semi-final of “Royal Indian Open” gained 85 points and it is already known that they will play against Chinese in the next stage- Xue and Zhou. If Oksana and Nina beat Asians, they will gain 117 points, and the winners of the tournament will gain 160 points. In double ranking of women tennis association (WTA) Kalashnikova is in the 110th place with 692 points, according to the result of the Indian tournament, she is to enter top 100.
As for Shapatava, she and Indian Anushka Bargava lost in the first match. They beat with Japanese tandem (Date-Krum/Nara) 2:6, 1:6.
