Golden Boys

1964, November 18. “Dinamo” Tbilisi won over “Torpedo” Moscow 4:1 in Tashkent at the Championship, in which Champions of Soviet Union should be revealed and won the Union Championship for the first time in its history. Ilia Datunashvili (2), Mikheil Meskhi and Slava Metreveli scored among the Georgians. “Dinamo”: Sergo Kotrikadze, Boris Sichinava, Vakhtang Rekhviashvili, Jemal Zeinklishvili, GUram Tskhovrebovi, Giorgi Sichinava, Shota Iamanidze, Ilia Datunashvili, Slava Metreveli, Vladimer Barkaia, Mikheil Meskhi. Besides them, Guram Petriashvili and Aleksandre Apshev took the Gold medals too. Goalkeeper Nodar Lejava (10 matches), Murtaz Khurtsilava (8), Elguja Khutsishvili (5), Zaur Kaloevi (1) and Nomadi Maisuradze (1) took part in the matches of that Championship. The team was coached by Gavriil Kachalin.
