After European and World Championships, Olympic Games, international and domestic tournaments, active season has ended up in many sports and it is time for federations to evaluate the season. Managers of many federations will have to count medals and finances to interested people at congress. In the previous years it passed painless. There were few critics. We mean such critics who dared to express their discontent openly. Not everybody could dare to express their position officially.

It seems we will have very noisy autumn-winter. Maybe, I am wrong but the fact is that a lot has changed at the federations.

At the end of Olympic year, most of Olympic sport federations in Georgia evaluate 4 years and hold presidential elections. 2012 is not an exception – lots of congresses and elections will be held in two months. It will be different from the elections which were held 4 years ago.

The managers of the federations, who usually came into force with uninterested elections, will not use old power anymore and new presidents will be elected.

According to the information of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, managers of more than 10 federations will be elected before congress of National Olympic Committee and presidential elections which is appointed by December 20.

Predictably, federations of judo, gymnastics, handball, volleyball, fencing, shooting, archery, taekwondo, cycle sport, rowing, canoes and pentathlon will hold this procedure. Also, mountaineers, backgammon and non-Olympic sport federations. Their congress will take place in November-December. Congresses of National Paralympic Committee, Sports Journalists’ Association and Anti-Doping Agency will be held in two months.

Perhaps, some federations may be added to this list. According to the rumors, situation will be changed at judo federation. President Kakha Getsadze is running the federation till 2013. The same is said about Boxing Federation where Petre Tsiskarishvili is elected till 2014.

As for other federations, basketball players must make choice in 2013, football players – in 2015 and rugby players – in 2016.
