Viktor Sanikidze, one of the leaders of Georgian national basketball team, will play for Italian champion “Siena Montepaschi” from the next season. He is with the team and will play at international tournament.

New club of Sanikidze departed for Cagliari and will participate in Torneo di basket City of Cagliari on September 14-15. Besides “Siena Montepaschi”, European clubs Russian CSKA, Greek “Olympiacos”, Turkish “Fenerbahce”, Slovenian “Olympia” and Italian “Dinamo Banco Sardegna” will compete in this tournament.

According to the regulations of the tournament, the teams will hold 2-2 games. On September 14 “Montepaschi” will play against “Olympia” Ljubljana. On September 15 “Olympiacos” will be opponent of the Italians.

Before the start of the tournament, the Italians held a test-game against “Fenerbahce” Istanbul and defeated the Turkish team 89:61. The most interesting is that Vladimer Boisa, former member of Georgian national team, played for “Montepaschi”.

It is not known if Vova is just practicing with his former club (he played for the Italian club in 2006-07) or a new contract will be signed.
