Tomorrow world rugby legend Jonathan Falefasa Umaga (Tana Umaga) of New Zealand will visit Tbilisi. It is known that Umaga will prepare back line of “The Lelos” for November test-matches.
New Zealander world rugby legend is a friend of our team’s coach Milton Haig. He knows Georgian rugby players well. That is why he had a great desire to work with Georgian team.
Umaga played for French “Toulonnais” with Gia Labadze. Then, he was coach of Davit Kubriashvili.
Umaga is the only Samoan rugby player who has been captain of legendary “All Blacks”. The team won 19 from 21 matches with him. Tana has won 74 caps in the national team.
After finishing career, he was coach of French “Toulon” and Zealanders. Now Umaga coaches “Counties Manukau” which won championship this year. The team is also in top 7 of Premiership.
In 2000 Umaga was named as the best rugby player of New Zealand. In 2005 he was nominated for the best rugby player of IRB.
